Multiple myeloma

A malignant proliferation of plasma cells, which are a type of white blood cell found primarily in the bone marrow. This cancer leads to the accumulation of abnormal plasma cells, producing dysfunctional antibodies and causing damage to bones, kidneys, and the immune system. Diagnosis often involves detecting monoclonal proteins in blood or urine, such as Bence-Jones protein.
