Congener
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002427
One of two or more chemical substances related to each other by a common structural parent. Congeners belong to the same chemical class and share a basic skeleton but differ in the number and position of substituents. For example, the 209 congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) all have the biphenyl structure but vary in the number and location of chlorine atoms attached to the rings.
