Core-shell particle

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002583

A composite particle consisting of a central core material encapsulated by a distinct outer shell material. This structure provides a combination of properties from both components, such as protecting the core from degradation or modifying its surface characteristics. Such particles are widely used in catalysis, drug delivery, and coatings.
