Defeminized gonadotropin secretion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002916
A non-cyclic, tonic pattern of gonadotropin release in a female, resembling the typical male secretion pattern. This condition results from exposure to androgens during a sensitive period of perinatal development, which permanently alters the neural circuits controlling the pituitary gland. A primary characteristic of this state is the absence of the preovulatory luteinizing hormone surge required for ovulation.
