Faraday’s laws of electrolysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004345
Two fundamental principles governing the quantitative aspects of electrolysis. The first law states that the mass of a substance altered at an electrode is directly proportional to the quantity of electricity passed through the cell. The second law states that for a given quantity of electricity, the mass of different elements deposited or liberated is proportional to their respective chemical equivalent weights.
