Glass electrode error
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004891
A deviation in the measured pH value from the true pH, arising from the limitations of a glass electrode. This error can occur at very high pH values, where the electrode responds to alkali metal ions in addition to hydrogen ions, or at very low pH values, where the glass membrane becomes saturated. The magnitude of the error depends on the specific glass composition and the concentration of interfering ions.
