Grey matter

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005029

The tissue of the central nervous system composed primarily of neuronal cell bodies, dendrites, unmyelinated axons, and glial cells. It is involved in muscle control, sensory perception such as seeing and hearing, memory, emotions, and speech. In contrast to white matter, which mainly contains myelinated axon tracts for signal relay, grey matter is where the actual processing of information occurs.
