Immunosurveillance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005711
The continuous monitoring performed by the immune system to detect and destroy nascent transformed cells or pathogens before they can cause disease. This process involves the recognition of abnormal antigens by immune cells, such as natural killer cells and T lymphocytes, leading to their elimination. Deficiencies in immunosurveillance can increase susceptibility to cancer and infections.
