Γ-interferon

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004885

A cytokine produced primarily by T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, playing a central role in immune regulation and host defense against viral and intracellular bacterial infections. It activates macrophages, enhances antigen presentation, and promotes the differentiation of T helper 1 (Th1) cells. This interferon is a potent immunomodulator and is sometimes used therapeutically for certain immune deficiencies.
