Kramers-Kronig transforms

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006383

A pair of mathematical integral relations that connect the real and imaginary parts of any complex response function, such as dielectric permittivity or magnetic susceptibility. These transforms are based on the principle of causality, meaning that the response of a system cannot precede the stimulus. They are widely used in spectroscopy to derive one part of a spectrum from the other, for example, absorption from reflection.
