Liquid-gel chromatography

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006693

A form of liquid chromatography in which a liquid mobile phase passes through a stationary phase that is a gel. It covers gel-permeation (size-exclusion) chromatography, where larger solutes elute first because they cannot enter the pores, and gel-based ion-exchange chromatography, where charged solutes are retained by exchange with fixed ionic groups on the gel. The gel-permeation mode is the usual method for measuring polymer molar mass distributions.
