Lymphocytotoxicity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006838

The ability of an agent to destroy lymphocytes, for example antibody plus complement lysing lymphocytes that carry a matching surface antigen, or primed histoincompatible T cells attacking them. Lymphocytes are the target cells here, in contrast to lymphocyte-mediated cytotoxicity, where they are the killers. The complement-dependent crossmatch used before organ transplantation tests recipient serum against donor lymphocytes in this way.
