Membrane emf
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007157
The electromotive force (emf) that develops across a semipermeable membrane due to differences in the concentrations or activities of ions on either side. This potential arises from the selective permeability of the membrane to certain ions. It is a key factor in biological systems and electrochemical sensors.
