Mixed potential
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007429
The steady-state potential established on an electrode when two or more electrochemical reactions occur simultaneously at its surface. This potential is a compromise between the equilibrium potentials of the individual reactions, where the total anodic current equals the total cathodic current. It is often observed in corrosion processes or in systems with multiple redox couples.
