Molecular beams
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013301
Streams of neutral molecules or atoms traveling through a vacuum with well-defined velocities and directions, often produced by expansion of a gas through a small orifice. These beams allow for the study of isolated molecules and their interactions without interference from collisions. Experiments using molecular beams can probe fundamental chemical processes, such as reaction dynamics and intermolecular forces, with high precision.
