Multiplicative scatter correction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007675

A data pre-processing technique used to compensate for additive and multiplicative scattering effects in spectroscopic data, particularly in near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy. For each spectrum, the method calculates a linear regression against a reference spectrum, which is often the mean spectrum of the dataset. The original spectrum is then corrected using the offset and slope derived from this regression, aligning it with the reference.
