Myoblast
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013314
A type of embryonic progenitor cell that differentiates and fuses to form multinucleated muscle fibers, a process known as myogenesis. These mononucleated, spindle-shaped cells are the building blocks of muscle tissue during embryonic development and subsequent growth or repair. In adults, a population of quiescent myoblasts, known as satellite cells, is retained for muscle regeneration.
