Pathogen-associated molecular pattern

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008544

Molecular structures found on or within microorganisms that are recognized by the innate immune system of a host organism. These patterns are conserved across broad classes of microbes and are not found in the host, making them reliable indicators of infection. Examples include lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from Gram-negative bacteria and flagellin.
