Polymer colloid

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013416

A colloidal system whose dispersed phase, continuous phase or both include a polymer, which can be organic or inorganic. The usual case is polymer particles in a liquid, as in a latex, but the term is wider than latex: it also covers liquid or gas droplets dispersed in a polymer, hollow polymer shells and aerosols of polymer particles. Colloidal dimensions run from about 1 nanometre to 1 micrometre.
