Potentiation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009322
An interaction between two or more chemicals that results in an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects. This occurs when one chemical, which may not be toxic on its own, enhances the toxicity of another chemical. For example, isopropanol can potentiate the hepatotoxicity of carbon tetrachloride.
