R, S
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009791
A system of stereodescriptors used to denote the absolute configuration of a chiral center in a molecule. The R (rectus) and S (sinister) designations are assigned based on the Cahn-Ingold-Prelog priority rules for substituents around the chiral center. This system provides an unambiguous way to describe the three-dimensional arrangement of atoms.
