CIP priority
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002079
A system for assigning priorities to ligands attached to a chiral center or to the atoms of a double bond, based on atomic number. This method, developed by Cahn, Ingold, and Prelog, allows for the unambiguous designation of stereoisomers as R/S or E/Z. Higher atomic number atoms receive higher priority.
