Solvent suppression

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011031

A technique employed in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to reduce or eliminate the signal arising from a highly abundant solvent, allowing for better observation of signals from solutes present at much lower concentrations. This is achieved by selectively saturating or otherwise attenuating the solvent's resonance frequency. Common methods include presaturation, WATERGATE, and WET sequences.
