Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011678

A spectroscopic technique that significantly amplifies the Raman scattering signal from molecules adsorbed onto or near a nanostructured metallic surface. This enhancement allows for the detection of very low concentrations of analytes. The technique typically uses noble metal nanoparticles or roughened metal surfaces to achieve signal amplification.
