Transferability
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012212
The concept that certain properties or parameters associated with a specific atom, bond, or functional group remain relatively constant when that entity is moved from one molecular environment to another. This principle is widely used in empirical force fields and quantitative structure-property relationships. For instance, bond lengths and angles are often considered transferable between similar molecules.
