Unactivated adsorption process
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012413
An adsorption process with negligible activation energy, so its rate hardly changes with temperature. Because nearly every molecule arriving at a bare surface is captured, the sticking coefficient at low coverage approaches unity, especially for small molecules. Chemisorption that needs activation instead speeds up as the temperature rises, following an Arrhenius law, which is the contrast with an activated process.
