Vitrification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012599
The process by which a liquid or a polymer melt transforms into a glassy, amorphous solid upon cooling, without undergoing crystallization. This transition occurs at the glass transition temperature, where the material becomes rigid and brittle. Vitrification can also refer to the process of preserving biological samples by converting them into a glass-like state.
