Absolute electrode potential

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000052

The potential of an electrode expressed against a universal reference, the energy of an electron at rest in vacuum just outside the solution, instead of against another electrode. It is obtained by adding the absolute potential of a reference electrode to a potential measured on the usual scale. The absolute potential of the standard hydrogen electrode is about 4.44 V at 25 degrees Celsius.
