Current efficiency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002796

The ratio of the actual amount of product formed or reactant consumed in an electrochemical process to the theoretical amount predicted by Faraday's laws, assuming all current contributes to the desired reaction. This value indicates how effectively the electric current is converted into the desired chemical change, often expressed as a percentage. Side reactions or parasitic processes reduce the current efficiency below 100%.
