Kveim reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006393
A diagnostic skin test historically used for sarcoidosis, involving the intradermal injection of a sterile suspension of sarcoid tissue. A positive reaction is indicated by the development of a papule or nodule at the injection site several weeks later, which upon biopsy reveals non-caseating granulomas. This test is rarely used today due to safety concerns and lack of standardized antigen.
