Metanephros

The definitive and most advanced form of kidney in vertebrates, developing from the intermediate mesoderm and replacing the mesonephros during embryonic development. It is responsible for urine formation and waste excretion in adult mammals, birds, and reptiles. The metanephros consists of nephrons, collecting ducts, and associated vasculature.
