Opsonization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013365
A process by which pathogens or other foreign particles are marked for destruction by phagocytes. This involves coating the target with opsonins, such as antibodies or complement proteins, which enhance their recognition and engulfment by immune cells. Opsonization is a key mechanism of the innate and adaptive immune systems.
