Pokeweed mitogen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009071
A lectin derived from the pokeweed plant (Phytolacca americana) that acts as a potent polyclonal activator of both B and T lymphocytes. It stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of these immune cells in a non-specific manner. This mitogen is frequently used in immunology research to study lymphocyte activation and function in vitro.
