Polymeric stationary phase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009194
A stationary phase used in chromatography that consists of a cross-linked organic polymer, rather than inorganic particles like silica. These phases are prepared by polymerizing monomer units into a porous, rigid structure, which can be functionalized to achieve specific selectivities for separating analytes. Common examples include polystyrene-divinylbenzene (PS-DVB) resins, which are noted for their chemical stability across a broad pH range from 1 to 14.
