Carbocation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001626
A positively charged ion in which at least one carbon atom bears a formal positive charge. This carbon atom is typically electron-deficient and acts as an electrophile. Carbocations are classified based on the number of alkyl groups attached to the positively charged carbon, such as primary, secondary, and tertiary carbocations.
