Flotation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004492
A separation process that selectively separates hydrophobic materials from hydrophilic ones based on differences in their surface properties. Air bubbles are introduced into a liquid suspension, and hydrophobic particles attach to the bubbles and rise to the surface, forming a froth. This technique is widely used in mineral processing and wastewater treatment.
