Miscibility
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007409
The ability of components, such as two polymers, to form one homogeneous phase within particular windows of temperature, pressure and composition. A stable single phase requires a negative Gibbs energy of mixing and a positive second derivative of that energy with respect to composition; a negative value alone does not rule out phase separation. A single glass transition in DSC or DMA is commonly used as evidence of one phase.
