Pre-association

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009342

The formation of a weakly bound complex between reactants before the actual chemical transformation occurs. This initial association is often driven by non-covalent interactions, such as van der Waals forces or hydrogen bonding. The pre-associated complex can then proceed to form products or dissociate back into reactants.
