Regulatory T cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010127
A subpopulation of T lymphocytes that actively suppresses the immune response to maintain self-tolerance and prevent autoimmune diseases. These cells modulate the activity of other immune cells, such as effector T cells, to control inflammation and prevent excessive immune reactions. They are characterized by the expression of specific surface markers, including CD4 and CD25, and the transcription factor FOXP3.
