Resonance neutrons
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010255
Neutrons with kinetic energies in an intermediate range where the probability of their capture by a nucleus shows sharp, distinct peaks. These peaks, known as resonances, correspond to the excited energy levels of the compound nucleus formed by the neutron and the target nuclide. The energy range for these resonances is typically from about 1 eV to 10 keV.
