Actinometer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000165

A device or chemical system used to measure the total radiant energy or photon flux of a light source. Chemical actinometers rely on a photochemical reaction with a known quantum yield to determine the number of photons absorbed. The ferrioxalate actinometer is a widely used chemical actinometer for ultraviolet and visible light.
