Double-strand polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003420
A polymer whose macromolecules have two parallel strands tied together, either by regular rungs as in ladder polymers or by shared tetrahedral atoms as in spiro polymers. The fused backbone cannot rotate freely, which makes such polymers stiff and thermally stable. Poly(benzimidazobenzophenanthroline), known as BBL, is a ladder polymer.
