Oscillator strength
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008346
A dimensionless quantity representing the probability of an electronic transition occurring between two energy levels in an atom or molecule. It quantifies the intensity of an absorption or emission band in spectroscopy. Values typically range from 0 to 1, with higher values indicating a stronger transition.
