Triple screen

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012292

A prenatal diagnostic test performed during the second trimester of pregnancy to assess the risk of certain chromosomal abnormalities and neural tube defects in the fetus. It measures the levels of three specific substances in the mother's blood: alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and unconjugated estriol (uE3). Abnormal results indicate a need for further diagnostic testing.
