Familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004336
A rare, inherited immune disorder characterized by uncontrolled activation and proliferation of lymphocytes and macrophages, leading to excessive inflammation and tissue damage. This condition results in the destruction of blood cells by activated macrophages, a process known as hemophagocytosis. It is diagnosed by specific clinical and laboratory criteria, including fever, splenomegaly, and cytopenias.
