Photoisomerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008886
A photochemical reaction where a molecule undergoes a change in its molecular structure to form an isomer upon absorption of light. This process typically involves a rearrangement of atoms or groups without a change in the overall molecular formula. Examples include cis-trans isomerization of alkenes and electrocyclic reactions.
